The Wharfedale Diamond 122 is the newest version of the popular Diamond series - designed to improve and replace the multi award-winning Diamond 10.1. The Wharfedale Diamond 122 looks superb, thanks to the design overhaul and new cabinet design and are available in four wood finishes.

The Wharfedale Diamond 122 offers a larger bass/mid driver than its smaller brother the Diamond 121 - resulting in an increased power rating and slightly increased sensitivity.

These speakers are designed to fit in with the rest of the Diamond range (including older models) both in terms of sound and looks. The Diamond 122 is also very budget friendly - offering incredible hi-fi sound, but at a reasonable price point!

'The Diamond 10.1 was What Hi-Fi magazine's Product of the Year in 2009 - meaning the Wharfedale Diamond 122 has big shoes to fill! Thanks to the new Kevlar-cone units the mid and bass response is greatly improved featuring some technologies used in the Jade series. Built in to the low frequency and midrange cones are semi-elliptical ‘break-up’ areas which have the effect of evening out the response across the audible range.

Also featured is a new bass-reflex port - offering technologies usually reserved for much higher-end products. Leaving from the base of the cabinet, the reflex port is loaded by a slot created by a plinth, equalising the air pressure to reflect that of the inside of the cabinet. This then allows a nice, clean transition between the pressure variation in the cabinet and the low frequency sound developed in the room.

The cabinet shape adds to the impressive sound; constructed to rectilinear shapes, the internal volume is maximised whilst the bass response delivers an impact at an optimal depth. The new composite multigrain material used to construct the cabinets results in a sturdy design with minimal cabinet colouration and minimal internal sound leakage.
